Israel mencegat kapal Madleen milik Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) yang membawa aktivis terkenal, termasuk Greta Thunberg, aktor Game of Thrones Liam Cunningham, dan anggota Parlemen Eropa asal Prancis, Rima Hassan.
Seperti dilaporkan CNN, Minggu (8/6/2025), pasukan militer Israel naik ke kapal Madleen yang sedang berlayar menuju Gaza. Para penumpang kemudian ditangkap dan dibawa ke Israel.
Dalam sebuah unggahan di X (Twitter), Kementerian Luar Negeri Israel mengatakan, “Para penumpang diharapkan kembali ke negara asal mereka.” Israel menuduh misi ini sebagai provokasi media untuk mencari perhatian publik.
Sebelum kapal dicegat, FFC sempat melaporkan serangan terhadap Madleen di perairan internasional.
“Drone quadcopter mengelilingi kapal, menyemprotkan zat seperti cat putih. Komunikasi terputus, dan suara-suara mengganggu terdengar di radio,” demikian pernyataan FFC melalui saluran Telegram.
Kapal Madleen sudah dipantau ketat oleh militer Israel sejak Senin dini hari. “Beberapa saat yang lalu, dua drone Israel berada di atas Madleen dan menjatuhkan atau menyemprotkan semacam bahan kimia putih. Sekarang Madleen tampaknya dikelilingi oleh pasukan komando angkatan laut Israel,” kata Huwaida Arraf dari FFC kepada CNN.
Menteri Pertahanan Israel, Israel Katz, mengonfirmasi bahwa dirinya telah memerintahkan Pasukan Pertahanan Israel (IDF) untuk mencegah kapal tersebut mencapai Gaza. Israel menggambarkan kapal itu sebagai “kapal pesiar swafoto yang membawa para selebritas.”
Sementara itu, Greta Thunberg mengakui bahwa misi ini sangat berisiko. “Kami tahu bahwa ini adalah misi yang sangat berisiko, dan kami tahu bahwa pengalaman sebelumnya dengan armada seperti ini telah mengakibatkan serangan, kekerasan, bahkan kematian,” ujarnya kepada CNN pada Sabtu (7/6/2025).
Freedom Flotilla Coalition dikenal sebagai organisasi yang konsisten menentang blokade Israel terhadap Gaza, yang telah berlangsung selama bertahun-tahun. Mereka mencoba menembus pengepungan tersebut dengan mengirimkan bantuan lewat jalur laut.
Israel sebelumnya telah memberlakukan blokade ketat selama 11 minggu, yang membuat bantuan kemanusiaan tidak dapat masuk dan menyebabkan krisis kelaparan di Gaza. Baru belakangan ini, setelah tekanan internasional meningkat, Israel mulai mengizinkan masuknya sedikit bantuan.
