Tak hanya pisang mas, pisang raja varietas lokal lainnya dari Indonesia juga turut masuk dalam daftar tersebut dan menempati posisi keempat. Adapun posisi kedua dan ketiga masing-masing ditempati oleh Platano de Canarias dari Spanyol dan pisang cavendish asal Inggris.
Yang menarik, meski berada di peringkat keempat, pisang raja memiliki rating tertinggi bersama pisang mas, yakni 4,5 dari 5, menurut ulasan pengguna TasteAtlas. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa kedua varietas pisang asal Indonesia tersebut sangat diapresiasi dari segi rasa dan kualitas, bahkan melampaui pisang cavendish yang lebih mendunia.
Cita Rasa Pisang Mas dan Pisang Raja
Pisang mas dikenal dengan ukurannya yang kecil, sekitar 10–15 sentimeter, serta teksturnya yang lembut dan rasa manis seperti madu. Varietas ini tidak hanya tumbuh di Indonesia, tetapi juga ditemukan di Malaysia (dikenal sebagai lady finger banana), Asia Tenggara lainnya, dan Australia. Namun, TasteAtlas secara khusus menyebut Indonesia sebagai asal utama pisang mas.
Sementara itu, pisang raja populer di pulau Jawa dan Sumatera. Buah ini memiliki ciri khas kulit tebal, bentuk agak panjang dan melengkung. Teksturnya padat namun lumer di mulut, menjadikannya cocok dikonsumsi langsung atau diolah menjadi berbagai hidangan seperti pisang goreng, kolak, hingga es pisang ijo.
