PUBLIKAINDONESIA.COM, JAKARTA – Rencana Timnas Indonesia menjajal kekuatan Kuwait pada FIFA Matchday, 5 September 2025 di Stadion Gelora Bung Tomo Surabaya, resmi batal. Kuwait menarik diri secara sepihak melalui surat resmi yang diterima PSSI.
Ketua Umum PSSI Erick Thohir membenarkan hal tersebut.
“Pertandingan melawan Kuwait dibatalkan. Mereka menyampaikan penarikan diri secara sepihak lewat surat resmi,” ujar Erick.
Sebagai pengganti, Timnas Indonesia akan menghadapi Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) di tanggal yang sama. Sementara laga uji coba melawan Lebanon pada 8 September tetap berlangsung sesuai jadwal.
“Kami langsung bergerak cepat mencari lawan pengganti. Syukurlah Taiwan bersedia, jadi timnas tetap mendapatkan dua laga uji coba sebelum Kualifikasi Piala Dunia,” jelas Erick.
Meski demikian, Erick mengaku tidak mengetahui alasan pasti pembatalan dari pihak Kuwait.
“Itu keputusan mereka. Kami menghargai, tapi tetap menyampaikan surat resmi ke AFC agar hubungan antaranggota tetap baik,” tambahnya.
Timnas Indonesia saat ini tengah mempersiapkan diri menghadapi babak keempat Kualifikasi Piala Dunia 2026 Zona Asia melawan Irak dan Arab Saudi pada Oktober mendatang. Dua laga uji coba ini dianggap krusial untuk mengukur kesiapan skuad Garuda.
