PUBLIKAINDONESIA.COM, TURKI – Upaya pemberantasan narkotika di Kota Lice, Provinsi Diyarbakir, berujung kontroversi setelah otoritas setempat membakar 20 ton ganja sitaan pada 18 April 2025.
Aksi pemusnahan yang dipimpin oleh Komando Gendarmerie Distrik Lice itu justru menyebabkan krisis baru: asap tebal menyelimuti kota selama beberapa hari, berdampak pada puluhan ribu penduduk.
Setidaknya 25.000 warga di sekitar lokasi pembakaran mengeluhkan gejala serius seperti pusing, mual, mabuk, hingga berhalusinasi.
Bau menyengat dari pembakaran memaksa mereka untuk menutup rapat jendela rumah selama berhari-hari demi menghindari dampaknya.
“Kami tidak bisa membuka jendela sama sekali. Bau asapnya menyengat dan membuat kepala pusing. Ini bukan sekadar gangguan, tapi ancaman kesehatan,” ujar salah seorang warga.
Alih-alih disambut apresiasi, operasi besar-besaran ini justru memicu kemarahan warga Lice.
Mereka menilai otoritas telah lalai mempertimbangkan dampak lingkungan dan kesehatan, serta tidak menyediakan perlindungan memadai bagi masyarakat sekitar sebelum melakukan pembakaran dalam skala besar tersebut.
